Filippo Bonelli studied Biotechnology (BSc) and Molecular Biotechnology (MSc) at the University of Turin, Italy. After completing his studies, he worked as a research fellow in Turin, focusing on cardiovascular research. In 2021, he moved to San Raffaele University in Milan, where he shifted his focus to Ophthalmology. There, he conducted safety and efficacy studies on eyedrops for managing corneal pain and inflammation.
From 2022, Filippo spent two years at the Veneto Eye Bank in Venice, developing molecular eyedrops for treating limbal stem cell deficiency in patients with Ectrodactyly-Ectodermal Dysplasia Cleft Palate (EEC) syndrome. In October 2023, he joined the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine to pursue a PhD focused on creating a cell therapy approach for managing corneal endothelial failure.
