Title: Retinal vein occlusion study
Project description: Study of coagulation retinal vein occlusion
The retina depends on healthy blood circulation to function properly. In retinal vein occlusion (RVO), blockage of retinal veins leads to reduced blood flow and damage to retinal tissue, which can result in vision loss. Current treatments mainly target complications such as swelling of the retina, but they do not address the underlying causes of the vascular blockage.
Changes in circulating blood cells may contribute to the development of RVO, such as component of the cell membrane. These changes may worsen the microvascular blood flow and contribute to disease progression.
Aim of the study
We investigate whether the change of cell membrane components on circulating blood cells contributes to increased clotting activity in RVO. And we also plan to examine whether the inhibitor can reduce these effects.
